Our Mission:
Our mission is to provide students of all ages with the skills to enjoy music and dance for a lifetime! Our goal is not just to teach dance for the year-end recital, but to also introduce many skills necessary to become an accomplished and astute learner for years to come.
Our Methodology:
Our dance classes are a process not product design classes. Our philosophy includes viewing a child's brain as a rich work in progress — trillions of neurons waiting to be wired. We provide experiences that help form the brain's circuits. These experiences are our focus. Our classes incorporate the development of small and gross motor skills, as well as traditional dance technique and vocabulary, thinking and reasoning skills, language, expressive and receptive abilities, motor coordination, and social interaction. The Bharatanatyam class in Novi enhances students' ability to understand the authentic India culture.
Our History:
Naatiyalaya Academy was founded in 1999 on the principles of instilling students with a sound understanding in the ancient arts of Bharatanatyam & Carnatic Music. Naatiyalaya Academy has completed 20 glorious years with instructing over a hundred students.
Smt. Iswarya has passed on her great talent to many pupils. As a highly regarded Bharatanatyam artiste, Naatiyalaya's productions are known for its soulful execution, and ability to kindle in the audience's "rasa" or the aesthetic experience, – the very essence of Bharatanatyam.
Over the past 14 years she has nurtured, trained and developed hundreds of young children into elegant dancers and provided them with opportunities to perform at various venues both at national and international stage. Being a consummate artist, Iswarya's disciples were inspired to continue the tradition of this art form by being both professional dancers and teachers in United States after performing their Arangetrams (solo dance debut). Smt. Iswarya Arun received the "Best Guru" award from the Madras Music Academy, Chennai, India in 2001.
Bharatanatyam Classes offered near Novi, Farmington Hills, Wixom, South Lyon, and Walled Lake, Michigan.
